Sala is the first Director of the newly established Department of Homeland Security (DHS). With over 40 years of law enforcement and public safety experience in American Samoa and the US mainland; 20 of those years he served in American Samoa as Deputy Commissioner of Public Safety. His variety of assignments included patrol, traffic, training, crime prevention, vice and narcotics, intelligence, investigations, administration and senior management consultant.
